I've just used the How-to to help me set up ASSP on SME Server 1.01. Formerly I was running SME Server 5.5 and had ASSP running, but I did a new install of SME Server rather than an upgrade, hence the need to reinstall ASSP.
The how-to is invaluable, for there a number of steps that many people would probably never get on their own - like editing the e-smith templates.
I'm stuck on the final point of the how-to, starting ASSP. I get a message saying that ASSP can't connect to socket 55555 (which it needs for its administrative interface), and I can't figure out how to address that. The how-to does mention the use of port forwarding, but that would seem to apply only in cases where SME server is sitting behind another firewall. What I need to do is open port 55555 on the SME server itself. off to the forums we go!
